September 18

Hi little one,
Happy 36 weeks! We are in the home stretch, baby girl!! And you can tell your mama is definitely feeling all 9 months of this pregnancy since you've moved "into the position". Seeing my toes is so totally out of the question, and you can barely tell, but my belly button is starting to pop out!

Ankles? You mean cankles:: My ankles are definitely taking a beating as we journey thorough the last month of this awaited countdown. I mean...they don't even look like ankles anymore. It's like I woke up one morning over the weekend and suddenly I have huge ass tree stumps where my cute little feet used to be. My tattoos are swollen, and even my toes look like stuffed sausages. I mean...this is the kind of stuff that they warn you about when you are trying to get pregnant, but also the type of stuff that you never-in-a-million-years think will actually happen to you. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Literally Down in the Dumps:: Not to mention the increase in frequency of potty breaks. And now I'm taking a crap two or three times a day, instead of just once. I realize there just isn't any room left in that area, but come on. Being at work is embarrassing because I have to jet out of my classroom like, way too often, and being at home sucks too because I don't want your daddy to hear or he'll make fun of me! I guess becoming obsessed with poo is just what happens when you become a Groesbeck (another thing I was warned about, but never believed!). Pretty sure that this meme is accurate, given what happened on Monday...

Just UGHHHHH:: Let me continue this little rant by stating that making a pregnant lady leave work early on a Monday, arrive on time to a 4pm appointment, and then wait for an hour before being seen SUCKS. All for what? To be told my Strep B test is negative, we are measuring exactly where we should be, and to call if I have any problems or questions. 1) Leave me a voicemail about the Strep B results, 2) I can measure myself just fine and know we're not ahead or behind, and 3) I'm not shy. I'll alert all appropriate people, should something go wrong. Just GRRRRR!! And I told your daddy that there wasn't even a point in him trying to make it to my appointment, since we had no idea when I'd even get seen. (Although next week is a different story, because I get checked for dilation and effacement, so he'd better be there!). This kind of sums up how I've been feeling toward everyone and everything but you lately. I'm sorry you have a crazy, emotionally unstable mama...

Dolce:: We had a busy weekend, thanks in part to Dolce getting a little sick. When I got home from work on Friday, I noticed that she was shaking her head kind of funny. We made an appointment at Banfield and it turns out she has an ear infection. They're pretty typical, based on what the vet said, and she was SUCH  a good sport! Here she is while we waited for her medicine. I think she's smiling :)

Nursery:: We also got a few things done in your nursery, as week approach the last four weeks. Daddy put up your book shelves, we finally got most of what your grandma Gigi bought us put away, and your closet is 99% done! I got the closet rod installed, your cute clothes washed and hung, and your homemade size dividers finished. Here's what you can expect to see in the next 30ish days...

Office:: Here's the highly anticipated office chalkboard wall! I'm so excited to show you!! I'd like to change the wall again before you get here, but it's getting harder and harder to move around, and daddy got mad when he saw me sitting on my desk so I could draw. I have a really cute fall print in mind, but if it doesn't get done, I won't sweat it; I'm just happy the rooms are *finally* getting done. We're going to hang those 6 picture frames that you see sitting on my desk this weekend, and then I just have to frame and hang all of our diplomas and the office will be done forever!
Okay, little girl. That's all for now. 29 days to go. I can't wait to meet you! I love you SO much.

September 12

Hi little one,
A Friday post?! I know. I'm running a few days behind, even though your daddy and I took the chalkboard picture on time. It's not easy hosting your grandparents, working full time, getting your nursery ready, and trying to get in a solid night's sleep, so give me a *little* wiggle room as I navigate my way through our final month before your arrival!

With that out of the way, happy 35 weeks!!!!
Showered with love:: Your shower was so much fun!! I'm SO happy everyone who came was there to celebrate you. We got so many cute things for you, and now I'm more impatient than ever for your arrival. Here are some of my favorite snapshots of the baby shower (They both happen to be of the cake, but can you blame me at this point??).

 Yes. This is your daddy...
A big shout out to your great-grandparents for hosting everyone and helping make this day so amazing. We don't know what we would do without you guys!!

Landscaping update:: Gigi and Papa G were also very generous with their time and efforts, and stayed an extra few days in KC to help us with our front yard. They worked tirelessly and now we have a front yard that I'm proud to bring you home to in a few weeks :)

Nursery:: Even though we're still working on your nursery, I couldn't help but post a few more pictures this week. I'm in love with your closet!! Daddy is going to hang all of your cute elephant prints this weekend, and we'll also put up your curtains, and a few finishing touches. After that, all we need is you, Miss Pemberley!

So ready:: This past week has been kind of rough on your mommy. You're now head down, but it's still really hard for me to breathe normally because you're a big, healthy girl who likes to kick my rib cage. I sound like a fog horn at night, and there's nothing I can do about it. I'm over all of these Braxton Hicks contractions, which I only seem to get at work when I'm doing a lot of walking around my classroom or back and forth to the office, and I'm over the every hour and a half trips to the bathroom. The heartburn is getting old, and my feet and fingers look like sausages because I'm retaining water, even though I drink a TON of it every day. There is no doubt in my mind that you are worth it, little girl, but let's just say that I'll be happy to hold you in my arms and have my body back (I was no supermodel or whatever before, but my ankles didn't look like tree trunks then and I could at least see my toes.) This meme describes perfectly the 35 week mark, in fact...

Adorbs cat:: Last but not least, I took this picture last night and had to share. It's Meagram, looking adorable. I hope she loves you like she loves your daddy, since she can't stand me no matter how many times I squeeze her and tell her I love her big fat belly...

Love you, sweet baby girl!

September 4

Hi little one,
Happy 34 weeks! Because we are having the family baby shower this weekend, Daddy and I decided this would be a good time to tell you all about your name! It is one that is very special to us. But, before we reveal it to you, here are some names we *almost* decided on...

Of course, all of those look really weird now and we couldn't imagine naming you anything other than what we decided on :) Without further ado...

Pemberley comes from one of your mommy's favorite books, Pride and Prejudice. It's technically the name of Mr. Darcy's estate, but your Daddy and I just love how it sounds and how it looks. We were also very excited to learn that 2013 was the first year that people in America registered the name Pemberley with the Social Security Administration. As far as we know, there are only 8 other Pemberleys! How cool is that??

Your middle name, Olivia, was picked out by your great-grandmother, Frannie. Even though she thought you were a boy at first, she started calling you Olivia from the day we found out you are a little princess. We hope you know how special great-grannie is, and how much we appreciate her input!

Bye Bye Ice: Well, Mommy was right. I got a call from the doctor today and it turns out my iron is indeed pretty low. I have to start taking a supplement every day. Dr. Shipman also said that I could expect my craving to lick chalk to go away (thank GOD. That was so weird!), and that my need for crunching on ice will most likely fade too. That makes me sad :( at this point in my pregnancy, there really isn't anything I enjoy more than getting a huge ass cup of ice and just going to town. But I'm sure Daddy is happy, because he complains allllllllllll the time about how obnoxious I sound (which only makes me crunch harder and louder, but that's fine!).

Come Home: Daddy is traveling again this week. When I asked him if there was anything special he'd like for me to include on this week's entry, he only said to make sure I tell you how much he loves and misses you :( We can't wait for him to get back tomorrow!

Nursery Update: We made a lot of progress on your nursery last weekend, I'm very happy to report! The chair rail got put up (fiiiiiiiiiiinally) and I hung a few pictures around your room. Daddy and I also decided on hanging these adorable tissue pompoms from the ceiling. Here's a semi-finished product, with a glimpse of Daddy trying to level the chair rail...
We are still in the process of framing the letters I painted for above your crib, but I figured that since we just announced your name, it's safe to show pictures of our work in progress :)

That's all for now, baby girl. Mommy is having a hard time staying up past 8:30, and it's 8:33. Good thing Daddy isn't home tonight, because I'm really looking forward to sleeping in the middle of our bed after I eat a bunch of crushed ice :)

I love you, Pemberley!
